We are HUMBLED. On April 16, 2011, our sending church, Christ’s Covenant Church of Winona Lake, Indiana threw their third annual celebration of art. The Art Gala. The event is a fundraiser where local artists donate pieces to be auctioned off for a chosen cause. This year, the cause was plane tickets – for us.
Currently, we are in the midst of the confusing and patience-trying steps of getting the visas we need from certain government offices in Papua New Guinea; But once these steps have been taken, we will be ready to purchase 2 one-way tickets to Wewak, PNG.
The estimated cost of getting two of us out there on one-way tickets is about $3500, but the wonderful friends and church family in Winona Lake that took part raised us nearly twice that!
The event was an astounding success, and great fun to boot. Below is a Flickr slideshow of the festivities – thanks TONS to the great photographer friends we have who were capturing the moments on film.
We are so thankful to the friends and family who showed us such support – the people who believe in what God is going to do in PNG (hopefully, through us).
PS – It was also SUPER COOL to see some future missionaries make it out to the festivities from training in Michigan… My brother included! See if you can’t spot him in the pictures!
May you guys be filled with endurance as you labor for the sake of the Gospel in PNG. I know some people serving in PNG with NTM right now. It is very exciting stuff!
